Project Overview
This project in Boughton-on-the-Water replaced an underutilised garage with a bespoke garden building designed to create additional living space without the need for a house extension.
Due to local planning constraints, extending the main property was not an option. Instead, the solution was a carefully designed garden room that would open directly onto the garden and provide a flexible space for entertaining family and friends.

Planning & Design Considerations
The building was designed to fall fully within permitted development guidelines. At 28 square metres, with a pent roof height kept below 2,499mm, the structure did not require planning permission, allowing the project to progress without delay.
The layout focused on maximising internal space while maintaining a low external profile, ensuring the building sat comfortably within the garden and respected neighbouring boundaries.
Materials & Specification
Externally, the customer selected a smooth olive green composite cladding, chosen for its clean appearance and maintenance-free finish. This was paired with anthracite bifold doors, allowing the entire front elevation to open directly onto the garden and blur the boundary between inside and out.
Internally, the space was finished to suit the client’s personal taste. Rather than a standard laminate floor, the customer opted to install their own cork-style flooring, creating a warm and distinctive finish that complemented the intended use of the room.
